Site Information
The University of West Georgia: Since 1906, the University of West Georgia has been home to those who are eager to embrace opportunities and define their own paths. With more than 100 programs and locations in Carrollton, Douglasville and Newnan, we’ve come a long way since then. Today, we’re a regional powerhouse with rich culture and a commitment to excellence, making a difference in the lives of our students, our neighbors and the world. The one thing that’s never changed: amazing things happen when you Go West.
Carrollton, Georgia: From the parks linked by the GreenBelt to the bright lights, music, food and fun of Downtown, there is nowhere like Carrollton. Concerts at the Amp, performances and exhibits at the Center for the Arts and Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum, our historic train depot and a calendar full of exciting events fill our town with music, culture and history. Have a love for the outdoors? Check out our best-in-state disc-golf course, bike the Carrollton GreenBelt or zip-line on the world’s longest canopy tour at Historic Banning Mills. With diverse restaurants, live entertainment and local wineries and breweries, there’s always something happening in our town. Carrollton is one of a kind. We are altogether original.
West Georgia: What can you explore nearby? Travelers seeking respite from the everyday hustle will find it in west Georgia. Take a stroll along the RiverWalk, which hugs the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, or brush up on your Georgia history in LaGrange, where you can step into the shoes of some of the people who helped shape this great state. President Jimmy Carter grew up in Plains, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt built his Little White House in Warm Springs. Learn about these leaders as you explore the region’s small towns. And be sure to stop by some of its indoor attractions, too. This region has a landscape like nowhere else in Georgia.
